The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rutecki to the ground. Aldo is now in Rutecki's guard.

Rutecki wants to improve his position but Aldo is controlling well.

Aldo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rutecki sees it coming and defends easily.
Rutecki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Aldo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Aldo's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rutecki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Aldo doesn't manage to clinch there - Rutecki circles away.
Aldo tries to clinch up.
Aldo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rutecki swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Aldo wants to clinch.
Rutecki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rutecki wants it to stay on the feet.
Dexter Rutecki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Aldo.

Rutecki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aldo to the mat! Aldo manages to get full guard.

Aldo has his foot on Rutecki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rutecki works his way back into a safe position though.

Rutecki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Aldo is proving hard to escape from.

Rutecki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rutecki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aldo looking for a triangle here. Rutecki is fighting it but it looks tight! Aldo pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Rutecki is tapping out - this one is all over!
