Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Gilbert!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert throws a right hand that misses
and Descharme counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gilbert avoids the body shot from Descharme.
Descharme ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gilbert moves away.
Descharme throws a jab when Gilbert was well out of range.
Descharme scores with a punch to the head.
Descharme scores with a jab to the jaw.
Gilbert tries to close the distance and clinch up but Descharme swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Descharme fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gilbert looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Descharme counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gilbert walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Gilbert swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Descharme scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gilbert doesn't seem bothered though.

Gilbert is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Gilbert ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gilbert misses with a few strikes there.
Gilbert throws a right hand that Descharme ducks under and follows up with a left that Descharme also avoids with ease.

Descharme shoots in and gets a takedown into Gilbert's guard.
Descharme is looking to work some ground and pound but Gilbert has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Descharme lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Descharme stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gilbert swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Descharme content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Descharme postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Gilbert has momentary wrist control but Descharme slips an elbow through the middle.

Descharme looking to sit in guard and control but Gilbert gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Descharme wants to hit a switch here but Gilbert passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Descharme there!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Descharme tries to lock up and control but Gilbert gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Descharme somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Phil Gilbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gilbert steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Descharme.
Gilbert throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Descharme sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Descharme throws a quick inside leg kick.

and Descharme counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Descharme is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Descharme. Gilbert does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Descharme swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Descharme lands with a hook. Gilbert tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gilbert loads up on a big right hand but Descharme slips the punch.
