PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bullet Bookem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pauly D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bookem comes to the cage accompanied by Solitaire Unraveling. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bullet Bookem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pauly D!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bookem keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bookem lands with a right hand.
Bookem throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bookem throws a jab but it's blocked by D.
Bookem lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
D takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bookem looks to land a right hand but D moved out of range.
D throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Bookem tries to score with a low kick but D moves his leg out of the way.
D gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
D leaves Bookem with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A jab lands there for Bookem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bookem changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bookem looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? D is fending him off so far but Bookem persists. Nope, D circles away and we're back to standing.
Some wild striking there from Bookem.
Bookem dips to his left and cracks D with an uppercut!
D looks to score with a jab to the body but Bookem is just out of range.
D slips under a jab from Bookem.
Bookem steps to the side to avoid the strikes from D.
D throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bookem shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
D wants to control but Bookem is having none of it.
D is wriggling around trying to escape.
D really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bookem. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bookem is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bookem connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
D manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by D, under a barage of strikes from Bookem.
Bookem slows the pace down in half guard.
Bookem missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bookem thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed D's head.

Bookem not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bookem throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
D blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bookem.

D looks gassed!
Bookem is trying to control. D wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bullet Bookem dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


D has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bookem finds it's way round the side to connect with D's head.
Bookem dips to his left and cracks D with an uppercut!
Bookem lands a head shot.
A jab from Bookem finds it's way through D's defenses.
Bookem thows a left - swing and a miss!
D misses with a looping right.
Bookem with a hook.
Bookem lands a nice looking body shot.
D drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Bookem shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
D checks a low kick from Bookem.
Bookem scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Bookem throws a right hand that D ducks under and follows up with a left that D also avoids with ease.

Bookem takes the fight into the clinch.
Bookem throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but D blocks it with crossed arms.
D working aggressively here.
D struggles to land a body shot inside as Bookem controls his hands.
D tries a body shot but Bookem blocks it.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
The referee calls for Bookem to work.
Bookem goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Bookem turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Bookem postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

An elbow from Bookem crashes against the mat.
D parries the strikes from Bookem easily there. Bookem is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable D to escape.
Bookem grinds an elbow into D's temple.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bookem looks up at the clock and then as D takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bookem smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Bookem fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bookem lands some shots froms side control.
D is looking for a sweep.
Bookem throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and D works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Bookem has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
D is breathing heavily.
Bookem is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
D regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bookem.
Bookem trying to control but D is working from the bottom.
Bookem stands and throws D's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bookem lands an elbow.
D dodges the ground and pound from Bookem.
D is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes there by Bookem.
Bookem throws an elbow but D slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bookem grinds an elbow into D's temple.
Bookem tries to score with some ground and pound. D controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
D takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bookem in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bookem misses with the ground and pound.

Bookem in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bullet Bookem dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice cross by Bookem.
Bookem buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Bookem misses the jab.
D looks to land a right hand but Bookem moved out of range.
Bookem throws a good cross that connects.


D is rocked!
D checks a low kick from Bookem.
D defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bookem.
A swing and a miss from D.

Bookem closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. D quickly recovers to half guard.
D is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bookem scores with a couple of nice shots.
D is still in real trouble! Can Bookem finish him?
D takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bookem thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
D seems to have recovered his senses.
D is staying active underneath Bookem, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Bookem is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that D can do to turn this around?

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bookem connects with a nice short shot to D's temple.

D keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bookem works his foot free and advances to mount.
Bookem connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Bookem trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Bookem unloads with some vicious shots from mount and D wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Bookem celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
