The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Alves.
Jones moves out of range of the strikes.
Willis Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Alves.
Alves swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jones misses with a body kick.
Nice straight punches there by Alves. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Alves.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily.
Alves looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alves doesn't seem bothered though.
Alves ducks right into an uppercut from Jones.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Alves misses with the combination.
Alves is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Alves throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.

Alves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Alves misses with a body shot.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.
Alves lands a jab to Jones's midsection.
Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alves throws out the jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Alves backwards.
Alves wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones prevents Alves from breaking the clinch.
Jones digs a right hand underneath Alves's ribcage. Alves let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alves on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Alves is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Jones thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Alves if he has to take too many more of those.

Jones rushes Alves and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jones throws a big uppercut that drops Alves! More strikes from Jones and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Alves lies dazed against the cage as Jones celebrates with his cornermen!
