PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scofield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlaimir Cuschenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scofield comes to the cage accompanied by Ballad of Worms. The crowd seem to be enjoying Cuschenko's choice of entrance music: T.A.T.U - Prostye Dvizhen'ya. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Scofield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vlaimir Cuschenko!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cuschenko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Scofield was covering up waiting for the punch and Cuschenko finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Cuschenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scofield has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cuschenko has managed to get both his arms back between Scofield's legs - danger averted.

Cuschenko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Scofield manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cuschenko has Scofield in his guard.
Scofield tries to free his leg and advance position but Cuschenko is retaining full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Scofield drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cuschenko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cuschenko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cuschenko!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cuschenko seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cuschenko connects with a nice short shot to Scofield's temple.

Cuschenko lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Cuschenko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cuschenko is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Scofield is not content to let Cuschenko control the position.

Scofield wants to control but Cuschenko is keeping busy.

Scofield has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cuschenko is working away from the top position though.

Cuschenko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Scofield defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cuschenko shoots in for a double leg but Scofield sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Scofield drives through with a takedown into Cuschenko's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Scofield is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cuschenko has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Scofield has hold of Cuschenko's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cuschenko manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cuschenko is in a bad position with Scofield working for a choke. Cuschenko manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cuschenko. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Scofield has his foot on Cuschenko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cuschenko works his way back into a safe position though.

Scofield darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
