Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Van Dinh Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riku Reipas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nguyen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rolling Stones - Paint it Black . The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nguyen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nguyen scores with a push kick.
Reipas has his takedown stuffed
and Nguyen counters with a low kick, right behind Reipas 's knee.

Nguyen has managed to clinch.
Reipas tries to pull guard but Nguyen holds him up against the cage and eventually Reipas drops back down to his feet.
Nguyen lands a good knee to the midsection. Reipas won't want to take too many of those.

Nguyen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Nguyen counters with a nice body kick.
Van Dinh Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Riku Reipas.
Nguyen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Reipas. That did some damage!

Nguyen connects with a nasty looking knee right to Reipas's face.
Reipas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nguyen walks away with a smile on his face. Reipas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Nguyen counters with an inside leg kick.

and Nguyen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Reipas tries a low kick but Nguyen avoids it.

Riku Reipas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nguyen goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Nguyen.
That kick from Nguyen tenderised Reipas's leg. Reipas is trying to keep his angry face on.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nguyen.

Nguyen moves into the clinch successfully.

Nguyen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Reipas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nguyen counters with a nice leg kick.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Nguyen pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Reipas looks for the body kick but Nguyen saw that one coming.
Reipas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nguyen counters with a good low kick that Reipas was not able to check.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reipas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nguyen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reipas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Reipas is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Nguyen is trying to escape and Reipas transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Nguyen is forced to tap! Nice work there by Reipas! Very nice indeed!
