Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Mederios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ziggy Vondopoulos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mederios comes to the cage accompanied by Amazing Grace by The Dropkick Murphys. Robbie Mederios had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ziggy Vondopoulos!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mederios scores with a nice strike.


It looks like Ziggy Vondopoulos has been cut.
Mederios moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Mederios is looking for a sweep. Vondopoulos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Vondopoulos tries to lock up and control but Mederios gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mederios is trying to control here but Vondopoulos has managed to regain half guard.

Vondopoulos trying to keep a closed guard but Mederios is proving a slippery customer.
Vondopoulos seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Vondopoulos is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mederios wants to control from the top but Vondopoulos keeps moving.
Mederios is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vondopoulos is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Vondopoulos throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mederios stays in close to Vondopoulos's body and controls the position.
Mederios is breathing heavily.
Mederios trying to control the position from guard on top but Vondopoulos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vondopoulos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mederios rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vondopoulos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Vondopoulos drives through and clinches with Mederios against the cage.
Mederios wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Vondopoulos manages to break the clinch.
Mederios scores with a jab to the jaw.

Vondopoulos takes the fight into the clinch.
Vondopoulos tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Mederios is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Mederios breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vondopoulos lunges at Mederios with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mederios's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Robbie Mederios will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ziggy Vondopoulos's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Vondopoulos gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mederios is pressed up against the cage. Vondopoulos has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mederios down to the mat. Mederios avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Vondopoulos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mederios lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Vondopoulos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mederios swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mederios misses with a double jab.
Vondopoulos gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Mederios avoids the head kick by Vondopoulos.
Vondopoulos doesn't manage to clinch there - Mederios circles away.

Vondopoulos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Vondopoulos throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mederios blocks it with crossed arms.
Vondopoulos with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Mederios wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mederios is trying to maintain a safe position but Vondopoulos gets an underhook and turns Mederios into the cage.
Vondopoulos tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Mederios has had enough of the clinch but Vondopoulos keeps him there for the moment.

Vondopoulos pulls guard successfully.
Mederios is fighting to break Vondopoulos's control of his arms but Vondopoulos is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Vondopoulos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Vondopoulos has his hands on Mederios's head, controlling the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Vondopoulos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Vondopoulos controls Mederios momentarily but Mederios frees himself.

Vondopoulos has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Mederios doesn't defend quickly enough and Vondopoulos has managed to lock this one up! Can Mederios escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Vondopoulos on a fantastic submission victory.
