PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DJ Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Dee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Pepper!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepper throws a one two combo.
Pepper throws a series of punches but Dee avoids them all with ease.
Dee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pepper misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dee throws a sloppy head kick and Pepper moves out of range easily.
Pepper will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dee swats away the attempt to clinch by Pepper.

Pepper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dee napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pepper tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Dee can't do much from the bottom here.

Pepper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pepper tries to score with some ground and pound. Dee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Dee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dee is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pepper stands up.
Pepper misses with a two punch combination.

Pepper shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dee manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Pepper passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Pepper is trying to ground and pound but Dee uses the momentary lack of control by Pepper to regain half guard.
Dee is refusing to be controlled, as Pepper sits in half guard.
Pepper seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Pepper is looking to pass Dee's guard but actually Dee recovers to full guard.

Pepper looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Pepper wanted to stand there but Dee had control of the position.
Pepper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pepper loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pepper goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Dee rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pepper's guard! Nice work there by Dee!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pepper looking for a sweep. Not yet Pepper, not yet.

Pepper connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Pepper shoots in for a double leg but Dee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sloppy strikes from Pepper. Those never looked like landing.
Dee avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pepper fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Pepper decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dee wants to control but Pepper is keeping busy.

Dee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pepper is working away from the top position though.

Pepper tries to stand but can't do so whilst Dee controls his leg.
Pepper tries to pass to full mount but Dee defends it.
Dee is trying to maintain the position but Pepper is very close to passing his half guard.

Pepper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Dee wants to control but Pepper is keeping busy.
Pepper works his way into full mount!
Pepper avoids the attempt from Dee to control.
Pepper raining down hammerfists from mount.

Pepper controlling his opponent.
Dee tries to hold on but Pepper pushes him away.
Pepper looking to ground and pound but Dee is blocking nicely.
Pepper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dee is working to get back to half guard.

Pepper sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Pepper wants to control the pace but Dee is squirming around nicely.

Pepper looking for a guillotine from mount but Dee is having none of it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dee wants to hold on but Pepper pushes him away.

Peter Pepper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Pepper stuffs the takedown attempt from Dee. Dee gets slowly back to his feet.

Pepper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dee keeping moving, preventing Pepper from controlling successfully.
Pepper works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pepper trying to mount his opponent but Dee defends it.
Pepper slows the pace down in half guard.
Dee is trying to maintain the position but Pepper is very close to passing his half guard.

Pepper moves into full mount! Dee won't be happy about that!
Dee prevents Pepper from taking his back.
Dee is looking to get to half guard.
Pepper can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dee is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Pepper there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Pepper wants to control the pace but Dee is squirming around nicely.

Pepper stands up from mount. Strange move.
Dee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A punch combination from Pepper misses.
Pepper tries to clinch up but Dee circles away and keeps his distance.
Pepper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dee fails to land the takedown.

Pepper closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pepper lands in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pepper trying to control the position from guard on top but Dee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pepper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
DJ Dee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pepper throws a big elbow that misses.

Dee has a closed guard, preventing Pepper from standing up.

Pepper stands and steps away. Dee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pepper misses with a two punch combination.
Pepper misses with a few strikes there.
Pepper closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Dee clinches.
A short right from Pepper.
Pepper wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dee throws a head punch that misses.
Pepper is trying to break free.
Peter Pepper is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dee struggles to land a body shot inside as Pepper controls his hands.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter Pepper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pepper winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
