PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Davenport (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bat Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Davenport might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ready for the Fight. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davenport avoids the body shot from Man.
Davenport dodges the punch combination from Man.
Man closes the distance and clinches up with Davenport, looking for a takedown. Man pushes Davenport against the cage but Davenport circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Man shoots in looking for a takedown but Davenport manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Man's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Man shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Davenport defends it nicely.
Thomas Davenport has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bat Man.

Man has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Davenport is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Man.

Davenport has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Davenport takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Davenport throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Man stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bat Man is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Davenport shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Man sprawls well. Man wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Davenport gets slowly back to his feet.
Davenport feints and then cracks Man's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Man down.

Davenport tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Man paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Man throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davenport's waist but Davenport gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Man off to one side.
Man takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Man looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Davenport has picked Man up and slammed him! Man can't keep hold of the triangle and Davenport manages to pass to side control!
Davenport remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
