PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Beano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ace Valdes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Valdes's choice of entrance music: RAWR. Ace Valdes will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Beano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ace Valdes!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valdes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Valdes lands an elbow that stopped Beano in his tracks for a moment.

Beano has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Valdes regains guard immediately.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Beano trying to control the position from guard on top but Valdes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Valdes wants to stand but Beano is controlling the position.
Beano working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Beano with a nice head shot there.
Beano forces his way into half guard.
Valdes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Valdes is trying to stand back up but Beano is controlling him

Valdes pushes Beano off looking to stand but Beano dives back in and keeps control.
Valdes is in trouble now - Beano has advanced to mount!
Beano has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Valdes's face.

Beano with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Beano lands a heavy elbow.

Beano looking for a guillotine from mount but Valdes is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beano looking to control and managing it successfully.

Valdes is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Beano tries to control but Valdes wriggling away.

Beano looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Beano can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Valdes is looking to escape.
Beano throwing strikes but Valdes bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Valdes trying to stand up but can't free himself from Beano's guard.

Beano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Valdes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Beano is looking for a triangle but Valdes pushes his legs off easily.
Valdes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Beano has his foot on Valdes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Valdes works his way back into a safe position though.
Beano has a closed guard, preventing Valdes from standing up.

Valdes gets to his feet - Beano follows without any prompting.
Beano keeps the fight on the outside.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Beano is defended easily by Valdes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice takedown defense from Valdes. No joy for Beano on that attempt.
Valdes fails in his attempt to clinch.
Valdes tries a head kick but it misses.
Beano tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Valdes swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Beano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valdes throws a sloppy head kick and Beano moves out of range easily.
Beano tries for a takedown but Valdes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ace Valdes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beano is breathing heavily.

Valdes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Valdes lands a damaging elbow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Valdes blocks an uppercut.
Beano drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Valdes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Valdes lands a nice elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Beano dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Beano avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ace Valdes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick by Valdes misses

and Beano decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Valdes's guard.
Beano in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jonny Beano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Valdes wants to get back to his feet but Beano is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Beano drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Valdes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Beano has Valdes in his guard.

Valdes wanted to stand there but Beano had control of the position.

Beano has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Valdes should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Beano has tightened it up now! Valdes should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
