PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam Henriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Henriksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robbie Fowler!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fowler shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fowler takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Fowler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Fowler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Henriksson wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fowler missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Fowler takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Fowler tries to stand and escape but Henriksson is controlling the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Robbie Fowler hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Henriksson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fowler paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Henriksson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Henriksson moves out of range of the leg kick from Fowler.
Fowler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Fowler closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Henriksson to the mat! Henriksson manages to get full guard.

Fowler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Henriksson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Henriksson has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fowler wants to sweep but no luck.

Henriksson wants to stand but Fowler has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Robbie Fowler.
Henriksson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fowler avoids it really well and circles away.
Henriksson is breathing heavily.

Fowler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Henriksson won't allow Fowler to pass to mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Henriksson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Fowler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Henriksson did well to prevent Fowler getting side control.
Henriksson wants to control the action here but instead Fowler manages to pass to full mount!

Fowler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fowler can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Henriksson is looking to escape.

The referee warns Henriksson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Robbie Fowler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Fowler looking to score a takedown here. Henriksson is defending well but Fowler drives through and ends up in Henriksson's guard.
Fowler wants to get up but he can't break Henriksson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fowler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Henriksson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fowler paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Fowler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fowler has control of Henriksson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Henriksson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Fowler is landing with some decent strikes but Henriksson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Robbie Fowler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fowler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
