PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryran Johson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Offerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryran Johson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Offerson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Offerson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Offerson thows a body shot but no joy.
Johson wants to clinch but Offerson slips to the side

so Offerson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Johson keeping moving, preventing Offerson from controlling successfully.
Johson keeping full guard, as Offerson tries to pass.
Johson controls Offerson momentarily but Offerson frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johson is on top in guard.
Johson trying to control but Offerson is working from the bottom.

Ryran Johson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Offerson gets a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johson jumps guard but Offerson stands there with Johson around his waist. Johson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Offerson manages to break the clinch.

Offerson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Offerson controls the position from side control.

Offerson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johson, who protects the arm well.
Offerson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johson keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Offerson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Johson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Johson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Offerson tries for a kimura but Johson is defending well.
Johson is trying to escape the position but Offerson is controlling the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Offerson.
Offerson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Offerson trying to control the position but Johson is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Offerson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Offerson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Offerson wants to control but Johson is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here as Offerson stalls from top position.
It looks like Offerson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Offerson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Offerson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Johson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Offerson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Johson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Johson pushes Offerson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Offerson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Johson is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Offerson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Offerson takes a little break here. Johson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Offerson dominated that round.
That's time! Johson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Johson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Offerson avoids it really well and circles away.

Offerson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Johson quickly recovers to half guard.

Offerson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johson defends it well.
Johson wants to improve his position but Offerson is controlling well.

Offerson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Johson!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Offerson controlling from the full mount.

Offerson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Johson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Johson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Offerson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Johson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Johson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Offerson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Johson is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jack Offerson!
