The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tidds clinches.
Tugarinov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tidds just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Tugarinov has clasped his hands together around Tidds's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tugarinov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tidds is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tugarinov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tidds knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tugarinov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tidds, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tugarinov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tugarinov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tugarinov advances nicely into full mount.

Tugarinov looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Tugarinov wants to finish this one by submission but Tidds is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tugarinov.

Tugarinov is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tidds has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tugarinov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Tidds to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Tidds shrugs it off.
Tidds really wants to buck Tugarinov off and get back to his feet.

Tugarinov is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tidds can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
You get the feeling that Tidds really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Tugarinov working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Tidds turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Tugarinov off and cradles Tidds's limp body as Tugarinov celebrates with his corner.
