Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ahoy Matey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ahoy Matey!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James moves in looking to clinch but Matey pushes him off.
James misses with a takedown attempt
and Matey counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. James is lucky that one didn't land flush.
James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Matey was well out of range. Poor timing from James.
Matey throws a nice outside leg kick.

Matey drives through with a takedown into guard.
James is trying to keep Matey in close.
James avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ahoy Matey has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
James wants to clinch
and Matey counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. James is lucky that one didn't land flush.

It looks like Rick James has been cut.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Matey throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
Matey keeps James at a distance using the push kick.

James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Matey postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Matey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Matey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Matey counters with a head kick. That will keep James thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Matey is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Matey wants to pass to mount but James is defending the position.
Matey is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
James tries to get to full guard but Matey has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Matey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ahoy Matey has got the better of the ground game so far.

Matey is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. James doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Matey.

James on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Matey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matey is nestled in close to James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matey wants to pass the guard but James is defending well.

James doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Matey counters with a flying knee. Nice.

James takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Matey to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Matey wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
Matey lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Matey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ahoy Matey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Matey wants to hold on but James pushes him away.
Matey is wriggling around trying to escape.

Matey wants to control but James is having none of it.
James trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Matey is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Matey tries to reverse the position but James maintains control.
James avoids the attempt from Matey to control.
Matey is looking to improve his position but James isn't that keen on the idea.

James wants to finish this one by submission but Matey is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from James.
James blocks Matey's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Matey really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matey can do anything to dispel that myth.
James wants to control the pace but Matey is squirming around nicely.
Matey is looking to improve his position but James isn't that keen on the idea.
Rick James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ahoy Matey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Matey tries to lock up and control but James gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ahoy Matey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Matey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
