PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Uriel Amok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amok's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Devils. Gracie has chosen disturbed - down with the sickness as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriel Amok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Amok.
Gracie lands a nice looking body shot.
Gracie misses with a hook. Amok ducked under it nicely.
Amok tries to clinch up.

and Amok counters with a takedown into side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amok slows the pace down in half guard.
Amok looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gracie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Amok seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Amok is looking to advance position but Gracie won't allow it.

Amok missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Amok works his way into side control.
Amok throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Amok working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Gracie parries the strikes from Amok easily there. Amok is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gracie to escape.
Gracie is trying to improve his position.
Amok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

Amok throwing strikes but Gracie manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Amok is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amok keeps working.
Amok tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Amok can't do much from the bottom here.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Amok tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gracie presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Amok is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is stalling here but it's allowed Amok to get half guard.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Amok has managed to free his arm - good work.
Amok manages to get to full guard.
Amok wants to sweep but no luck.
Amok keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Amok is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie actively working from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Amok looks to throw the jab but Gracie is out of range.

Amok misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Gracie is looking to control Amok's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted?
Gracie tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Amok lands with a punch from half guard.

Amok throws a strike but Gracie avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Amok trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Amok pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Amok can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Amok trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gracie wants to sweep but no luck.
Amok slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Amok trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Amok is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Amok pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Uriel Amok.
Some bone on bone action there as Gracie checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Amok takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Gracie drops his hands momentarily and Amok takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Uriel Amok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Gracie. Amok does a little dance to reset his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt.
Gracie shoots in but Amok avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Amok moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uriel Amok dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Amok takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Amok shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Amok gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gracie is refusing to be controlled, as Amok sits in half guard.

Amok is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gracie sees it coming and defends easily.

Amok wants to pass the guard but Gracie is defending well.

Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Uriel Amok overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Amok gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chuck Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gracie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gracie is pushing down on Amok's leg trying to pass to half guard. Amok is fighting to maintain full guard but Gracie has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Amok makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Amok.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amok swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Amok has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Amok keeps moving.
Uriel Amok is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gracie passes Amok's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Amok is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Amok is defending it quite comfortably.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chuck Gracie.
Well Amok has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
