PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephan Boater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brat Hitman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hitman has chosen Nero - Innocence as his entrance music. Hitman has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Boater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brat Hitman!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hitman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Boater seems keen to control Hitman's posture.
Hitman wants to control from the top but Boater keeps moving.
Hitman looks gassed!
Boater manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hitman manages to get himself to full guard.

Boater stands and steps away. Hitman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Boater takes the fight into the clinch.
Boater working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Boater successfully pulls guard.
Boater throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Boater wants to sweep but no luck.
Boater on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boater tries to get out of the position.
Boater thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Boater looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hitman won't allow Boater to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hitman.
Hitman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hitman gets tackled into the cage by Boater. Boater maintains the clinch.

Boater has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hitman is trying to keep an underhook but Boater manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Boater decides to return to a standing position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Boater shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hitman's guard.

Boater gets to his feet. Hitman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hitman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Boater stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Boater throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hitman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Boater is in Hitman's guard.
Boater cracks Hitman with a solid left hand.
Hitman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boater is stalling in the full guard.

Boater gets to his feet - Hitman follows without any prompting.

Boater drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boater is working Hitman over with some ground and pound from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Boater decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hitman to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Boater forces Hitman back against the cage and clinches.

Boater breaks from the clinch.
Boater stuns Hitman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Hitman moves out of range as Boater throws a body kick.

Boater changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hitman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hitman wants to control but Boater postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boater is staying tight to Hitman's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Hitman is trying to control Boater's posture but Boater avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephan Boater dominated that round.

Boater keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hitman enables Boater to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hitman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Boater controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Boater passes into half guard.
Boater trying to control the pace.
Hitman is breathing heavily.

Nice strikes from Boater there.
Still in half guard, Boater seems content to control.
Boater's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Stephan Boater wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Boater shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hitman napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Boater stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Boater shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hitman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boater seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Boater seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hitman for as long as he can get away with.
Hitman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stephan Boater wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Boater throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hitman gets tackled into the cage by Boater. Boater maintains the clinch.
Hitman tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Boater avoids it.

Boater works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Hitman wants to sweep here but Boater controlling him for the moment.
Boater slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Boater controlling the position from side mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boater prevents Hitman from escaping the position.
Hitman is letting Boater control him for a moment.
Hitman tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Boater easily slips into full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Boater's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Boater takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Boater is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Boater is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hitman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hitman trying to hold on to Boater's head to control him but Boater postures up.

Hitman moves in looking to clinch but Boater pushes him off.

Boater is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Hitman tries to land knees in the clinch but Boater avoids the damage to the body.

Boater gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hitman regains guard.

Boater decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boater looks to land a combination but Hitman avoids it well.

Hitman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Boater to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hitman is trying to control the position but Boater postures up.

Boater won't allow Hitman to sweep him here.
Boater seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hitman is looking to stand up but Boater isn't so interested in that idea.

Hitman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Boater closes the distance and pushes Hitman back into the cage.
Boater is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hitman can do to turn this around?

Hitman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Well Boater has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
