The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Salonen. No joy for Velasquez on that attempt.
Velasquez tries to clinch but Salonen is having none of it.
Salonen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Velasquez misses with a head kick.
Salonen takes a swing at Velasquez's ribcage but misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Salonen. Velasquez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Velasquez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Salonen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Salonen.
Salonen lands a couple of elbows.
Salonen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Salonen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Salonen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Velasquez's guard.

Salonen is trying to work for a kimura but Velasquez is defending well.

Salonen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Velasquez tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Salonen!
