The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartan works over Pokey's head and body with a nice combination.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Pokey. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Spartan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Spartan wants it to stay on the feet.

Spartan might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Spartan, as that shot connected.
Spartan looks to land a combination. Pokey sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Spartan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pokey looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Spartan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Pokey drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Spartan stalks Pokey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pokey's face. Pokey staggers backwards, shaken.

Spartan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pokey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Spartan stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Pokey has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Spartan manages to get his head free but now Pokey has transitioned to an armbar! Spartan grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Pokey! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
