Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Larry Corncobb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Mailau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Mailau is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Larry Corncobb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Mailau!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mailau fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mailau.
Corncobb swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Mailau to counter with a crisp jab.
Mailau tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Corncobb manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Horrible takedown by Mailau or perhaps it was just good defense by Corncobb which made him look bad.

Mailau shoots for a takedown but Corncobb saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mailau is pressed up against the cage. Corncobb has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mailau down to the mat. Mailau avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Corncobb rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mailau moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Corncobb stalks Mailau and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mailau's face. Mailau staggers backwards, shaken.

Mailau tries to close the distance and clinch but Corncobb swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mailau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Corncobb tries to avoid it but Mailau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Corncobb to the ground. Corncobb escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Larry Corncobb.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Corncobb, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
