PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson McLane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scully Rudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson McLane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scully Rudd!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rudd's waist but Rudd gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McLane off to one side.
Rudd throws a big shot that misses.
Rudd connects with a good right hand that stumbles McLane. McLane circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McLane slips a jab from Rudd.
Rudd should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sloppy strikes from Rudd. Those never looked like landing.
Rudd throws a shot to the body.
Rudd cracks McLane with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
McLane moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
McLane shoots in and drives through. Rudd sprawls well.

Rudd ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rudd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McLane manages to avoid it.
Scully Rudd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLane shoots in for a takedown but Rudd shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson McLane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rudd stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McLane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rudd circles away.

Rudd misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McLane.
Rudd looks to land a right hand but McLane moved out of range.

McLane avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rudd throws an overhand right that lands on McLane's shoulder, as McLane tries to avoid the shot.
Rudd stuffs the takedown.
McLane is breathing heavily.

Rudd scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rudd misses with a hook.
McLane moves out of range as Rudd strikes.
McLane takes one to the chin there.
McLane fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rudd lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rudd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
McLane doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
McLane walks into a stiff left hand from Rudd.
Rudd is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! McLane had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
A jab lands there for Rudd.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for McLane. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Rudd connects with a single shot there.
Rudd clobbers McLane with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


McLane is rocked!

McLane ducks straight into an uppercut from Rudd and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - McLane manages to regain guard straight away.
Oh McLane is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McLane avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

McLane seems to have got his legs back now.
Rudd throws a big right hand that misses.

Rudd is looking to stand up but McLane won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rudd throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McLane works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rudd postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rudd thows a big elbow that misses.
Rudd missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rudd throws a strike but McLane rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rudd is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Rudd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rudd can do anything to dispel that myth.
McLane being controlled here momentarily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scully Rudd dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rudd jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Rudd defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McLane.
McLane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rudd circles away.
Scully Rudd seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rudd lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as McLane backs up against the cage.
Rudd clobbers McLane with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Rudd's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rudd duly obliges.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McLane blocks a jab.
Rudd lands a head shot.
Rudd scores with a three punch combo!
Donk. Rudd catches McLane right on the button with a cross.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rudd throws a jab but it's blocked by McLane.
McLane walks into a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLane closes the distance and clinches up with Rudd, looking for a takedown. McLane pushes Rudd against the cage but Rudd circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson McLane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rudd scores with a jab. McLane acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Rudd lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rudd lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and McLane falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
