Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Weathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weathers has chosen By The Way as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Weathers!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weathers takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Weathers shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hawk fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Weathers scores a takedown into full mount!
Hawk bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hawk postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Weathers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hawk pushes down on Weathers's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hawk seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Weathers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weathers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hawk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hawk throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hawk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Weathers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hawk.
Hawk is looking to take a break and control but Weathers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hawk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Weathers's head.

Weathers is defending against the submission attempts here by Hawk.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawk wants to stand but Weathers has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Hawk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Weathers keeps working.
Weathers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hawk.

Weathers seems a little lost for a moment, as Hawk dominates the positioning.
An elbow from Hawk crashes against the mat.
Hawk in side control, throwing shots but Weathers defends.
Weathers is not content to let Hawk control the position.
Weathers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hawk is controlling him well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hawk working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Weathers closes the distance and clinches up with Hawk, looking for a takedown. Weathers pushes Hawk against the cage but Hawk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Weathers shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense.

Weathers tries to keep at a distance but Hawk has taken the fight into the clinch.

Weathers gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Weathers thows a huge punch but Hawk dodges it nicely.
Hawk makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hawk.
Hawk wants to stand but Weathers is controlling the position.
Weathers postures up in Hawk's guard and throws a big left but Hawk blocks it.
Weathers scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Weathers works over Hawk with some ground and pound from guard.

Weathers postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hawk is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Weathers, into his guard.
Weathers can't keep his opponent in guard - Hawk advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hawk works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hawk won't let Weathers get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Hawk breaks from Weathers's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Hawk lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Weathers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hawk throws some wild stikes that Weathers manages to avoid easily.
Hawk misses with a head shot.
Hawk trying to control but he's not successful this time.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Weathers wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hawk.

Hawk looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Hawk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Weathers is looking to escape.
Hawk lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hawk throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hawk sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Weathers is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hawk looking to finish with strikes here!
Weathers is trying to stand.
Hawk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Weathers is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Weathers wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hawk doesn't manage to clinch there - Weathers circles away.
Hawk misses with a wild combination.
Hawk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Weathers pinned against the cage. Weathers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hawk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Weathers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hawk sprawls well. Hawk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Weathers gets slowly back to his feet.

Hawk moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Hawk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Weathers.
Hawk slaps away a takedown attempt from Weathers, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hawk tries to clinch up.
Mike Hawk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hawk goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Weathers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hawk avoids it really well and circles away.
Hawk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Weathers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hawk's guard.
