PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Cutty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Church The Fireman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Fireman has chosen I am Fuck! as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Cutty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Church The Fireman!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cutty misses with a combination
and The Fireman counters with a stiff right hand.
The Fireman just misses with a punch to the body.
Cutty throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cutty throws a nice looking combination but The Fireman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The Fireman tries to close the distance and clinch but Cutty swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cutty throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cutty takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cutty tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but The Fireman was well out of range. Poor timing from Cutty.
The Fireman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cutty.

and The Fireman counters with a single leg into guard. Cutty didn't expect that.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The Fireman wants to pass the guard but Cutty is keeping the position.
The Fireman wants to control from the top but Cutty keeps moving.
The Fireman passes Cutty's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Cutty is trying to stand up here but The Fireman is controlling him well.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Church The Fireman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The Fireman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cutty avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The Fireman turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and The Fireman manages to end up in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The Fireman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cutty knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Fireman has Cutty pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. The Fireman pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cutty tumbling to the mat - The Fireman dives into Cutty's guard.

The Fireman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cutty is now in The Fireman's guard. A big mistake from The Fireman there, giving up the dominant position!
Cutty wanted to stand there but The Fireman had control of the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as The Fireman holds on and takes a little breather.

The Fireman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cutty's guard.

Cutty knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The Fireman on the ground.
The Fireman postures up in Cutty's guard and throws a big left but Cutty blocks it.
Church The Fireman has got the better of the ground game so far.

The Fireman is looking to advance position but Cutty has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The Fireman regains half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cutty connects with a nice short shot to The Fireman's temple.
The Fireman is trying to maintain the position but Cutty is very close to passing his half guard.
The Fireman moves into full guard.
The Fireman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The Fireman is trying to control the action in half guard but Cutty is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The Fireman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cutty with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Church The Fireman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Cutty has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of The Fireman is proving hard to escape from.

Cutty walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

The Fireman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cutty lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but The Fireman circles away quickly and effectively.
Cutty scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Cutty just misses with a punch to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and The Fireman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Cutty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by The Fireman.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cutty stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cutty wants it to stay on the feet.
Cutty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horrible takedown by The Fireman or perhaps it was just good defense by Cutty which made him look bad.

I would just about give that final round to Church The Fireman.
