The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Messinger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Messinger showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Messinger trying to work for an americana but Oliveira Silva has managed to regain full guard.

Messinger is working Oliveira Silva over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Messinger is looking to stand up but Oliveira Silva won't let him.
Messinger postures up in Oliveira Silva's guard and throws a big left but Oliveira Silva blocks it.

Oliveira Silva wants to control from the top but Messinger keeps moving.

Oliveira Silva has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Messinger to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Oliveira Silva is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Messinger pulls down on the head and he's put Oliveira Silva to sleep! This one is all over!
