Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jethro Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jethro Johnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shogun Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jethro Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Johnson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rua explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Rua clinches up against the ropes.
Rua is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the ropes.

Rua breaks from the clinch.

Rua closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rua is chipping away with strikes.
Rua landing strikes.
Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rua advances nicely into full mount.
Johnson is in a horrible position here. Rua smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rua lands a big shot there that rocks Johnson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

A nice elbow there by Rua.
Rua will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rua controlling the position easily from mount.
Johnson tries to hold on but Rua postures up.
Rua lands a nice shot to the head.
Rua lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Rua trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee warns Johnson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Rua working for a guillotine from mount but Johnson is in no mood to give up.
Rua lands a nice shot to the head.

Johnson wants to hold on but Rua pushes him away.
Rua wants to control the pace but Johnson is squirming around nicely.
Rua breaks from Johnson's wrist control and lands an elbow.

It looks like Jethro Johnson has been cut.
Rua postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Johnson badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Rua around the waist but Rua pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Rua is the winner by TKO! Rua jumps onto the ropes and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shogun Rua!
A less than humble Shogun Rua misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
