The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Darcy Kyryluik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soto has his takedown stuffed
and Kyryluik counters with a left and a right that stings Soto.

and Kyryluik counters by moving into the clinch.
Soto blocks an uppercut.
Kyryluik can't break the clinch.
Soto jumps guard but Kyryluik stands there with Soto around his waist. Soto gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Darcy Kyryluik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Soto.
Kyryluik lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Soto.
Soto wants to get back to striking at distance but Kyryluik won't allow it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No joy there for Kyryluik, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kyryluik moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Manuel Soto has been cut.

Soto is trying to push Kyryluik away but Kyryluik has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Soto is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kyryluik.

Kyryluik tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Soto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Soto is trying desperately to land a takedown but Kyryluik is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Soto.
Kyryluik tries to bum rush Soto with a series of wild strikes but Soto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kyryluik misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Soto shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Soto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kyryluik defends it well.

Kyryluik pushes Soto off but Soto dives into side control.
Soto landing a few strikes.
Soto creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Kyryluik tries to escape but Soto is in control.

Soto is working to tighten is grip on Kyryluik's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kyryluik has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Soto is really squeezing tight and eventually Kyryluik passes out! Soto breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
