Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brad Will (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bad Company. Brad Will could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rod Melendez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brad Will!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rod Melendez!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez lands a nice looking kick to the body. Will takes a step back to recover.

Melendez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Will looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Melendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Will keeps working.
Will struggling a bit here.
Melendez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Melendez tries to advance to mount but Will instead regains half guard.
Will keeping control of the position.

Melendez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Will's head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Melendez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Will is just riding it out for now. Melendez eventually gives up the hold.
Melendez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Will does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Will really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Will is trying is best to control the position here.

Melendez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Will to get to his feet.

Melendez gets a double leg takedown into Will's guard.
Melendez pushes down on Will's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Will is trying to maintain the position but Melendez is very close to passing his half guard.
Will on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Melendez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Will trying to hold on to Melendez's head to control him but Melendez postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Melendez is just content to waste time from the top position. Will takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Melendez throws an elbow that misses. Will uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Melendez's guard. Nice move by Will!
Melendez wants to improve his position but instead Will has moved into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Will is looking to take a break and control but Melendez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice takedown defense from Melendez. No joy for Will on that attempt.
Will misses with a takedown attempt

and Melendez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Will's guard.
Melendez postures up in Will's guard and throws a big left but Will blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Melendez is looking to work some ground and pound but Will has wrist control.
Will is trying to keep Melendez in close.
Melendez trying to control the position from guard on top but Will is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Melendez throws a strike but Will rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Melendez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Brad Will just wasn't active enough.
Melendez tries to clinch up.

Melendez gets a clinch.

Melendez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rod Melendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Melendez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Will takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Will takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Will shoots in for a takedown but Melendez shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Will. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melendez connects with a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Melendez throws a series of punches but Will avoids them all with ease.
Melendez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Will misses with a takedown
and Will takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Will wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Melendez.

Melendez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

BOOM! Melendez connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Melendez postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Will bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Melendez and the fight is over!
