PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Milson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Tar's choice of entrance music: I Come From A Land Down Under. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Milson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Tar!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Milson slams his shin into Tar's torso.

Milson gets caught napping as Tar dives in and scores a takedown. Milson manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Tar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Milson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Tar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Tar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Milson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tar has Milson in his guard.

Milson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Milson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Milson pinned against the cage. Milson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Milson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Milson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tar.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Milson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Milson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Tar thuds his right hand into Milson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Milson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tar's guard! Nice work there by Milson!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Tar uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Milson.

Tar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Milson's waist but Milson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tar off to one side.

Tar rushes Milson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Tar has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Milson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Milson wants the takedown. Tar is fighting it off but Milson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tar's guard against the cage.

Tar is looking to sinch up a triangle. Milson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Tar's body to avoid the submission. Tar has instead reached around Milson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Tar arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jack Tar!
