The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Lovelace counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lovelace slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lovelace stays in close to Cocozza's body and controls the position.
OK we're going to have a standup here. GRrinder Lovelace hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lovelace is pushing down on Cocozza's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cocozza is fighting to maintain full guard but Lovelace has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lovelace is landing with some decent strikes but Cocozza is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Lovelace softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Cocozza is out cold! Lovelace jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). GRrinder Lovelace!
GRrinder Lovelace was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
