PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Amongero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Andrei Vega has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Andrei Vega seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrei Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roberto Amongero!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vega shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Amongero as he jumps to the side.

Vega drives through and clinches with Amongero against the cage.
Vega has Amongero pressed against the cage, preventing Amongero from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Vega is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrei Vega. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vega drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Amongero gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Vega works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Amongero wants to get back to his feet but Vega is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vega throws a big elbow that misses.

Vega drops back looking for a leg! Amongero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Amongero manages to kick Vega off! Vega jumps back into Amongero's guard.
Amongero wants to stand and escape but Vega is having none of it.
Vega forces his way into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vega is looking for a kimura but Amongero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vega to get the leverage.

Vega is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Amongero is just riding it out for now. Vega eventually gives up the hold.

Vega is trying to work for a kimura but Amongero is defending well.
Amongero is trying to stand up here but Vega is controlling him well.

Amongero is defending against the submission attempts here by Vega.
Amongero wants to get back to his feet.

Vega wants to work for an arm triangle but Amongero is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Vega is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Amongero sees it coming and defends easily.

Amongero has one foot on Vega's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Vega tried to score with a low kick but Amongero checks it.
Amongero lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Amongero's jab looks to have found its range, popping Vega under the eye.
Vega is breathing heavily.
Amongero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vega.
Amongero connects with a body shot.
Amongero rushes Vega with punches - Vega moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Vega goes down! Amongero follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roberto Amongero!
A very excited looking Roberto Amongero rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
