Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pat McGroin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector DeLuca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hector DeLuca is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pat McGroin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hector DeLuca!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGroin looks for a takedown but DeLuca sprawls well.
DeLuca moves out of range of the body kick from McGroin.
DeLuca tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGroin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
DeLuca misses with a series of wild punches.
DeLuca checks a low kick from McGroin.
McGroin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McGroin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
DeLuca blocks a head kick by McGroin.
DeLuca doesn't manage to clinch there - McGroin circles away.

McGroin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGroin looks to score with a jab to the body but DeLuca is just out of range.
McGroin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pat McGroin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DeLuca swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McGroin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DeLuca but DeLuca pushes him off and we're back to square one.

DeLuca moves into the clinch successfully.
McGroin is trying to push DeLuca away but DeLuca has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

DeLuca tries a body shot but McGroin blocks it.
DeLuca throws a punch but it's blocked by McGroin.

McGroin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
DeLuca stops a takedown attempt from McGroin.
McGroin is breathing heavily.
McGroin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
DeLuca goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
DeLuca wants to break the clinch but can't.
DeLuca tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McGroin's elbow.
DeLuca wants to break free but McGroin has control.

McGroin is trying to push DeLuca away but DeLuca has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

DeLuca has hold of one of McGroin's legs. McGroin is fighting the takedown attempt but DeLuca gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

DeLuca is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
DeLuca trying to control but McGroin is working from the bottom.
McGroin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DeLuca on the ground.
McGroin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McGroin tries to get out of the position.
DeLuca might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McGroin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
McGroin has control of DeLuca's left arm, preventing DeLuca from doing any damage.
DeLuca trying to control but McGroin is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hector DeLuca hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McGroin tries to clinch up but DeLuca circles away and keeps his distance.
McGroin shoots in and drives through. DeLuca sprawls well.
McGroin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from DeLuca.
DeLuca fails in his attempt to clinch.
DeLuca tries to clinch but McGroin is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McGroin tries for a takedown but DeLuca sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

DeLuca closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

DeLuca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector DeLuca dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McGroin is looking to clinch.
McGroin fails with an attempt to clinch.
DeLuca slaps away a takedown attempt from McGroin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGroin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and DeLuca counters with a nice double leg into guard.
DeLuca pushes down on McGroin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McGroin is not content to let DeLuca control the position.
DeLuca lands with a punch from half guard.

DeLuca wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
McGroin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DeLuca works his foot free and advances to mount.
DeLuca lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
McGroin is looking to get to half guard.
McGroin is squirming around, avoiding DeLuca's attempts to control the action.
McGroin flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

DeLuca sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

DeLuca is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McGroin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McGroin shrugs it off.
DeLuca trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McGroin has given up his back here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

DeLuca is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. McGroin is defending well though. DeLuca let's go of the attempt for now.

DeLuca has got one arm under McGroin's chin. This could be trouble... McGroin trying to control the other hand but DeLuca gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, McGroin has tapped out! The fight is over!
