Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Geter Done!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez shoots in but Done avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Done falls off balance throwing a combination

and Velasquez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Done won't be happy with that.
Velasquez working the head with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Done avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Velasquez.
Velasquez wants to control but Done is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here as Velasquez stalls from top position.
Done is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Velasquez asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Velasquez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Velasquez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The strikes coming from Velasquez are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Velasquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Done struggling a bit here.

The referee asks Velasquez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Velasquez prefers to stall for the moment though.
Velasquez fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Done is looking for a sweep.
Velasquez is looking to take a break and control but Done is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Done tries to buck Velasquez off but Velasquez is having none of it.

Done stops Velasquez from passing to mount.

The ground and pound from Velasquez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Velasquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Done keeps working.
Done taking punishment in the form of punches.

Velasquez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Velasquez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Velasquez trying to control the position but Done is working away.
Velasquez misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Done is not content to let Velasquez control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velasquez misses with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Velasquez dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Done tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Velasquez swivels and escapes.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Done as he jumps to the side.

Done fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Velasquez sprawls well initially but Done persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Done seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Done is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Velasquez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Done.
Done thows a huge punch but Velasquez dodges it nicely.
Velasquez trying to control but Done postures up.

Done is working for a kimura but Velasquez is defending it quite comfortably.

Done lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Done prevents Velasquez from improving his position.
Done throwing shots but Velasquez is blocking nicely.
Done sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Velasquez defending well though.
Velasquez trying to control here.
Done trying to mount his opponent but Velasquez defends it.

The fighters are battling for position here. Velasquez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Done's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Velasquez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Velasquez tries to control but Done wriggling away.
Done really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Velasquez wants to control the pace but Done is squirming around nicely.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Velasquez won't let Done get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Velasquez putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Velasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Done on the ground.
Done tries to hold on but Velasquez pushes him away.

Velasquez tries to control but Done wriggling away.
BOOM! Velasquez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Done is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Done is looking to improve his position but Velasquez isn't that keen on the idea.
Velasquez working Done over with strikes here.
Velasquez connects with a bit shot that sees Done covering up! More strikes from Velasquez and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Velasquez is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
