Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between The Manliest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manliest kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ontlogy. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as William Costa enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Manliest!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Costa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Manliest.
Manliest takes a swing at Costa's ribcage but misses.
Costa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Manliest defends it nicely.
Costa moves out of range as Manliest strikes.
Costa throws a right hand that Manliest ducks under and follows up with a left that Manliest also avoids with ease.

Costa looks to land a combination but Manliest avoids it well.

Costa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Manliest manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Manliest not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Costa postures up in Manliest's guard and throws a big left but Manliest blocks it.
Manliest tries to land a sweep but no joy.

BOOM! Manliest connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Manliest goes for an armbar but Costa turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Costa.

Manliest manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Costa manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Manliest really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Manliest drops back, looking for a kneebar! Costa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Costa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Costa!
Manliest is trying to get back to half guard.
Manliest can't do much from the bottom here.
Costa throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Manliest works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Costa is looking to take a break and control but Manliest is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Manliest has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Costa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Costa throws a strike but Manliest rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Costa is on top in guard.

Manliest has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Costa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Costa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Manliest looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Costa passes into side control.
Manliest is not content to let Costa control the position.
Costa slows the pace down.
Manliest manages to get back to half guard.
Manliest slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Manliest has his foot on Costa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Costa works his way back into a safe position though.

Costa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Manliest has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Costa has managed to get both his arms back between Manliest's legs - danger averted.
