PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Copley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doug Copley struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Pan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Copley!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan moves out of range of the leg kick from Copley.
Copley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Pan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Copley has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Pan gets underhooks to prevent Copley's takedown attempt.
Copley is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Peter Pan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doug Copley.

Copley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pan stuffs the takedown.
Pan throws a right and a left that both miss.
A head kick misses from Pan.
Pan throws a head kick that half lands.
Copley drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pan shoots for a double leg takedown but Copley sprawls well. He's pushed Pan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A head kick misses from Pan.
Pan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pan blocks a head kick by Copley.
Copley looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Copley closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Copley scores with a knee to the head.
Pan lands with a right to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Copley has Pan pressed against the cage, preventing Pan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Copley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Copley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pan lands a nice hook to Copley's body. Copley takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Copley looks gassed!
Pan pivots, looking for a leg kick but Copley is out of range and Pan settles back down.
Pan moves out of range as Copley throws a body kick.
Copley blocks a head kick by Pan.
Pan misses with the combination.
Copley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Copley has closed the distance and engaged Pan in a clinch.
Pan is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Copley is trying to drag Pan to the mat but Pan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Copley fails to pull guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Copley drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Pan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pan dives in and scores a takedown into Copley's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Copley throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pan escapes and throws Copley's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Pan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Copley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pan.
Peter Pan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pan clinches.
Copley displaying some good clinch control by pressing Pan up against the cage.

Copley turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Pan is trying to control Copley's posture but Copley avoids it.
Copley trying to control the action but Pan is working from the bottom.
Pan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Copley is trying to control the action in half guard but Pan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Doug Copley wasn't active enough on the ground.
Some wild striking there from Copley.
Pan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Copley.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Copley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Pan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Pan tries to move to mount but Copley blocks the move with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Pan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pan slaps away a takedown attempt from Copley, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Copley tries to keep at a distance but Pan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pan gets underhooks to prevent Copley's takedown attempt.
Peter Pan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doug Copley.
Pan jumps guard but Copley stands there with Pan around his waist. Pan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Pan managing to block the knees to the body from Copley.
Copley drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Copley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pan walks away with a smile on his face. Copley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Copley is breathing heavily.
Pan misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pan sizes up Copley with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Pan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Copley manages to avoid it.
Copley avoids the head kick by Pan.

Pan moves into the clinch.
Pan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Copleys head.


Copley is rocked!
Pan tries to break the clinch but Copley is controlling the position.
Copley is still on wobbly legs! Can Pan finish him?
Pan is looking for a takedown.

Pan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from Pan. Those never looked like landing.
Pan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Copley defends it nicely.
Copley stuffs the takedown.
Pan connects with a combination that backs up Copley into the cage. Pan lands a flurry of punches that gets past Copley's guard. Copley is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Pan bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Pan!
