Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Sax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Down With The Sickness. Sax is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Somebody gonna get they ass kicked by: 36 Mafia. Steve Simon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Harry Sax!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Sax does no damage.
Sax tries to clinch but Simon is having none of it.

It looks like Steve Simon has been cut.

Simon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sax, pushing him back against the ropes.
Simon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sax pulls his leg out and moves away.
Harry Sax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Sax, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Simon has Sax up against the ropes in a clinch.

Simon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Simon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Sax!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simon scores with a sloppy right hand. Sax should have avoided that one.
Simon circles away from the clinch attempt

and Simon counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Simon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Simon chips away with some ground and pound.
Simon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sax is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Simon lands a couple of digs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Simon works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Simon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Simon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Simon is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sax has managed to free his arm - good work.
Simon stops Sax from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Simon is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sax is trying to stand up here but Simon is controlling him well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sax is looking to control Simon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sax avoid being mounted?
Sax is refusing to be controlled, as Simon sits in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Simon looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sax misses with a double jab

and Simon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Simon.
Simon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sax wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Nice body punch from Simon.
Simon throws a head punch that misses.
Sax can't break the clinch.

Sax wants to get back to striking at distance but Simon won't allow it.
Sax changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Simon fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sax keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sax lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Simon sprawling to the canvas. Sax follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Simon hang on?


Simon is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sax wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simon keeps working.
Sax is breathing heavily.

Simon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sax's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sax's back!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Simon controlling the positon.
Sax wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sax takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Sax covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Simon looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Simon lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Simon.

Sax is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Simon lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Simon is not going to allow Sax to sit and survive in this position.
Sax is trying to break free.
Simon scores with strikes from the back.

Simon is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Sax taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Simon.
