PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grayson Carlyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Rolston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ricky Rolston will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grayson Carlyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ricky Rolston!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlyle throws a sloppy head kick and Rolston moves out of range easily.
Carlyle walks into a stiff left hand from Rolston.
Rolston ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Rolston sizes up Carlyle with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
No luck for Carlyle with that takedown attempt.
Carlyle moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Carlyle feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Carlyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rolston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carlyle has managed to get both his arms back between Rolston's legs - danger averted.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ricky Rolston hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carlyle shoots in looking for a takedown but Rolston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carlyle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Grayson Carlyle will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rolston enables Carlyle to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rolston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
