The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Karasawa.

Montoya closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Montoya tries for a kimura but Karasawa is defending well.

Montoya is trying to get an arm triangle but Karasawa is defending well.
Montoya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Karasawa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Montoya asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Karasawa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Montoya. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Montoya wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Karasawa, who protects the arm well.
Karasawa holds on to Montoya's head and controls the position momentarily.

Montoya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montoya is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Montoya hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
