He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Kiwi Bird enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie rushes Bird and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bird takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Kiwi Bird has been cut.
Gracie has clasped his hands together around Bird's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Gracie grinds an elbow into Bird's temple.
Gracie has hold of Bird's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bird tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gracie cranks the arm and Bird screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bird, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Thiago Gracie!
Our winner, Thiago Gracie, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
