Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lupercus Sham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Jag-Animal as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lupercus Sham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Sham or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.
Sham fails with a takedown attempt.

Sham closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.
Johnson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Sham takes an elbow to the temple.
Sham blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Johnson is pressed up against the cage. Sham has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johnson down to the mat. Johnson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lupercus Sham. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Johnson moves into the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Johnson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Johnson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sham blocks it with crossed arms.

Johnson has Sham pushed against the cage.

Sham is trying to trip Johnson. He has hold of a leg but Johnson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sham persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sham won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Sham passes into half guard.
Sham wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
Sham really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sham is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sham to get the leverage.
Sham prevents Johnson from standing back up.

Johnson kicks off Sham and gets to his feet.
Sham throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.

Sham has Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right from Johnson on the inside.
Johnson misses with a hook to the ribs.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Johnson.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson pushes off an throws an elbow but Sham leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Johnson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Sham escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sham changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Sham manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sham is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Sham keeps it at a distance.
Sham fails with the takedown
and Johnson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Johnson misses with a double jab.
Johnson dips to his left and cracks Sham with an uppercut!
Steve Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sham circles away quickly and effectively.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Johnson.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.
Johnson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Johnson lands a nice shot to the body.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Sham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sham shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johnson clinches with his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson lands a left hand.
Johnson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Johnson stalling in the clinch.
Johnson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sham blocks it with crossed arms.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sham escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Sham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Johnson dominated that round.
That's time! Sham's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sham manages to break the clinch.

Johnson closes the distance and pushes Sham back into the cage.

Johnson struggles to land a body shot inside as Sham controls his hands.
Johnson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Johnson misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sham on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Sham wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Johnson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Johnson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Sham misses with a knee to the head.
Johnson lands a left hand.
Johnson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sham has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Johnson misses with a hook from the clinch.

Sham jumps guard.

Sham has a closed guard, preventing Johnson from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sham is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
Sham will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson won't allow Sham to sweep him here.

Sham is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Johnson tries to stand but Sham is controlling from the bottom.

Johnson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sham is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Johnson wanted to stand there but Sham had control of the position.

Johnson stands up from Sham's guard - Johnson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sham manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.

Johnson throws a nice head kick!


Sham is rocked!
Johnson finds Sham's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Sham flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Johnson lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Sham will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Steve Johnson!
Steve Johnson took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
