Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Nevada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nevada comes to the cage accompanied by In The End by Linkin Park. Robbie Lawler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harry Nevada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robbie Lawler!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nevada fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nevada stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lawler.
A combination from Nevada does no damage.
Lawler swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lawler wants to clinch

and Nevada counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lawler's guard now.
Nevada knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lawler on the ground.
Lawler controls Nevada momentarily but Nevada frees himself.
Lawler looking for a sweep. Not yet Lawler, not yet.
Lawler is looking to stand up but Nevada isn't so interested in that idea.

Lawler is looking for a triangle but Nevada pushes his legs off easily.
Nevada postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Nevada trying to control the position from guard on top but Lawler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nevada wants to pass the guard but Lawler is keeping the position.

Lawler has his foot on Nevada's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nevada works his way back into a safe position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lawler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nevada is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lawler wants to stand but Nevada has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Nevada tries to roll over but Lawler keeps him under control.

Lawler is looking for a kimura but Nevada is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lawler to get the leverage.

Lawler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nevada does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nevada is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Nevada wants to control but Lawler is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Lawler drives through and clinches with Nevada against the cage.

Nevada on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nevada tries to get out of the position.
Lawler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Well, if Lawler is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

and Lawler counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nevada!

Nevada is bucking up trying to escape but Lawler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lawler throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Lawler throws a sloppy head kick and Nevada moves out of range easily.
Nevada tries to clinch there but Lawler circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nevada looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lawler connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Nevada's hands.

Lawler feints and as Nevada raises his hands in defense, Lawler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nevada swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Lawler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nevada moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lawler is breathing heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nevada is on top in guard.

Lawler wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lawler is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nevada distracts Lawler with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Nevada lands a couple of elbows.
Lawler throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lawler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nevada stays in close to Lawler's body and controls the position.
Nevada seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lawler for as long as he can get away with.

Lawler goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nevada prevents it.

Lawler jumps guard and drags Nevada to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lawler wants to break the clinch but can't.

enabling Lawler to counter with a crisp jab.
Nevada throws a right and a left that Lawler avoids nicely.

Lawler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lawler throws an elbow but Nevada slips to the side and avoids it well.
Nevada tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lawler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lawler cracks Nevada with a big right hand but Nevada just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Nevada is looking for a sweep.
Nevada tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Lawler is landing with some decent strikes but Nevada is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

I've got Lawler winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
