Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Davis Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davis Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Reed!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies wants to clinch but Reed slips to the side

and Reed counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davies's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Davies trying to keep a closed guard but Reed is proving a slippery customer.
Reed stays in close to Davies's body and controls the position.
Reed trying to control the position from guard on top but Davies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Davies has his foot on Reed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reed works his way back into a safe position though.
Reed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davies's guard.
Reed tries to pass to full mount but Davies defends it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Davies wants to control but Reed passes into side.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reed decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Reed steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Davies.
Davies darts in trying to clinch

and Reed counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Reed is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Davies is staying active underneath Reed, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reed prevents Davies from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davies wants to control but Reed is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Reed lands a nice short elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Davies is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reed pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Davies manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Reed is pushing down on Davies's leg trying to pass to half guard. Davies is fighting to maintain full guard but Reed has managed to sneak the leg through.
Davies throws a strike from the bottom but Reed passes into side control!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Davies is looking for a sweep.
Davies trying his best to control but Reed has mounted him.
Reed controlling from mount.
Davies in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Davies has given up his back here.
Reed slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Davies is trying to break free.
Reed controls the position.
You can see the frustration on Davies's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Reed is persistently looking for the submission but Davies is defending it well.
Davies breaks Reed's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Davies throws and elbow that misses. Reed uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Davies's guard. Nice move by Reed!
Reed trying to control the position from guard on top but Davies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reed with a nice head shot there.
Reed wants to control from the top but Davies keeps moving.
Davies trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Davies is looking to sweep but instead, Reed has passed into half guard.
Davies trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Reed dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Davies tries to clinch but Reed moves away

and Reed counters by clinching up.
The referee calls for Reed to work.

Reed breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice uppercut lands for Davies. That snapped Reed's head back.
Davies fails in his attempt to clinch.

Reed has managed to clinch.

Reed gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Davies wants to improve his position but Reed is controlling well.
Reed thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Davies trying to hold on to Reed's head to control him but Reed postures up.
Reed is keen to just control but Davies is a slippery customer.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reed in particular looking to stall.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Davies tries to get to full guard but Reed has control of the leg.
Reed trying to control the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Matt Reed wasn't active enough on the ground.
Davies throws out a powerful jab.

Reed has taken the fight to the clinch.
Reed leaning his opponent against the cage.

Reed escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Davies looks to throw the jab but Reed is out of range.
Davies tries to clinch up but Reed circles away and keeps his distance.
Reed pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Reed shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reed showed some decent athleticism there.
Reed blocks the strikes from Davies.
Reed seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Davies does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Reed is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Davies sees it coming and defends easily.
Reed blocks the strikes from Davies.
Reed trying to control from half guard but Davies is working away.
Davies is looking for a sweep. Reed is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davies is not content to let Reed control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davies wants to get back to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matt Reed hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Davies slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Reed stuffs the takedown attempt from Davies. Davies gets slowly back to his feet.
Davies wants to clinch

and Reed counters by moving into the clinch.

Reed's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Davies gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Davies looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Reed gets to his feet. Davies looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Reed is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Reed, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Reed shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davies as he jumps to the side.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Davies tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reed paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Davies tries to bum rush Reed with a series of wild strikes but Reed uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Davies wants to clinch

and Reed counters by clinching up.
Davies swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Davies jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reed walks away with a smile on his face. Davies gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davies tries to close the distance and clinch but Reed swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Reed tries a head kick but it misses.
Reed misses with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Reed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Davies tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reed swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Reed counters by moving into the clinch.

Reed pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davis Davies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reed shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Davies defends it nicely.
Davies closes the distance but Reed moves to the side

and Reed holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Davies creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Reed blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Davies looking for a takedown.
Davies tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Reed smiles and moves away.
Davies avoids the head kick by Reed.
Davies moves in looking to clinch but Reed pushes him off.
Davies fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davis Davies. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davies showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Reed.
Reed displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Davies throws out the jab.
Davies looks to clinch
and Reed counters with a nice uppercut.

Oooh a lovely combination from Davies sends Reed down but not out. Davies dives into side control looking to finish.


Reed is rocked!


It looks like Matt Reed has been cut.
Reed takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Davies cracks Reed with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Davies immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Reed is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Davies!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Davis Davies!
