PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danger David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Duncan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duncan has chosen Moonlit Masquerade as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danger David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan fails with a takedown attempt.
Duncan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts David as he jumps to the side.

David drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
David landing strikes.
Duncan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of David.
Duncan is trying to improve his position.
Duncan prevents David from moving into mount.
David postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duncan tries to buck David off but David is having none of it.

David decides to stand back up. David steps back and let's Duncan get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

David gets a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
David tries a knee to the head but Duncan blocks it.

Duncan is fighting off a takedown attempt but David is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Duncan to the mat. Duncan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
David working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Duncan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

David will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
David sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Duncan's guard.

David tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Duncan.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Duncan manages to escape and get back to his feet!

David rushes Duncan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
David is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Duncan is defending well for now.

David lands a takedown into guard.

Duncan working for submissions but it's allowed David to get to half guard.
Duncan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. David is working away from the top position though.

David wants to work for an arm triangle but Duncan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

David wants to finish this one by submission but Duncan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from David.
David is breathing heavily.
Duncan tries to hold on but David pushes him away.
David throwing strikes here but Duncan is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Poor strikes thrown by David there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Duncan is bucking up trying to escape but David cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Duncan is desperately trying to improve his position but David has a good base and remains in mount.
Duncan slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
David throwing shots but Duncan is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danger David dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Duncan wants the takedown. David is fighting it off but Duncan persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in David's guard against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duncan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. David stacks Duncan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by David!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Duncan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


David swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Duncan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? David is fending him off so far but Duncan persists. Nope, David circles away and we're back to standing.
Duncan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as David sprawls well. David wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Duncan gets slowly back to his feet.
Danger David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duncan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says David as he avoids it easily.
Danger David has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Duncan.
David misses with a series of wild punches.
Duncan dives in and grabs David's left leg, looking for a takedown. David pushes down on Duncan's head and hops out.
Duncan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Duncan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. David doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. David manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Duncan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. David gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

David closes the distance and clinches.

David has picked Duncan up - he's going for a ride! David dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Duncan is trying to stick to David's back but David is turning into Duncan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Duncan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by David.

Danger David showed his dominance in that final round.
Well David has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
