Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil Neal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Remming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Phil Neal has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Phil Neal seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Remming!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neal lands a jab to the head.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Remming.
Neal goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Neal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Neal has a takedown stuffed.
A big right from Neal misses.
Neal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Neal lands with an overhand left.
Neal connects with a body shot.
Neal misses with a straight left.
Neal cracks a nice hook into Remming's ribs.
Remming takes one to the chin there.

Remming takes a swing at Neal's ribcage but misses.
Remming takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Neal throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Remming stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Neal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Neal manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Remming on his heels. He'll look to pass Remming's guard now, I'm sure.
Neal postures up.
Neal has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Remming is proving hard to escape from.
Remming looking for a guillotine here but Neal defends easily.
Neal tries to free his leg and advance position but Remming is retaining full guard.

Neal makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Neal wants to get back to his feet but Remming is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Remming throws a big elbow that misses.
Neal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Remming postures up in Neal's guard and throws a big left but Neal blocks it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Remming circles away from the clinch attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Remming crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Neal - the referee stops the clock and Remming gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Neal. Remming manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Neal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Remming swats him away and circles back towards the center.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Remming keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Neal throws a lazy right hand but Remming sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A head kick misses from Remming.
Neal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Remming manages to avoid it.
Phil Neal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Remming uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Neal.
Neal uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Remming.
Neal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Remming was covering up waiting for the punch and Neal finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Phil Neal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neal throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Neal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Remming swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Remming is trying to control but can't.

Neal slows the pace down in half guard.
Remming regains full guard. Nicely done.
Remming controls Neal momentarily but Neal frees himself.

Neal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Remming not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Remming keeping moving, preventing Neal from controlling successfully.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Neal lands the left hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Neal wants to clinch up but Remming keeps it at a distance.

Horrible takedown by Neal or perhaps it was just good defense by Remming which made him look bad.
Derrick Remming has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Phil Neal decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
