Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jon Arona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Trampling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arona's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Knock you out!. Matt Trampling has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Arona finds it's way through Trampling's defenses.
Arona takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Arona closes the distance looking to clinch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Matt Trampling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arona tries to clinch
and Trampling counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Arona pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Trampling back to the cage. Arona follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Arona pulls guard effortlessly.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Trampling is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Trampling is looking to take a break and control but Arona is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Trampling tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trampling has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Arona is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Trampling off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Trampling will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Trampling pushes Arona away with a front kick.

Trampling throws a leg kick but Arona sees it coming and moves out of range.

Arona tries to clinch there but Trampling circles away.
Arona has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Trampling.

Trampling connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Arona shoots in for a takedown but Trampling shows good takedown defense.

Arona ducks right into an uppercut from Trampling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Arona is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Trampling.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Arona takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Trampling shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trampling forces his way into half guard.
Trampling wants to pass to mount but Arona is defending the position.
Trampling is keen to just control but Arona is a slippery customer.
Trampling works his foot free and advances to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Arona makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Arona.

Arona has his foot on Trampling's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Trampling works his way back into a safe position though.

Trampling works to advance to full mount. Arona defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Trampling takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Arona holds on for dear life.
Arona tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Trampling pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Arona tries to reverse the position but Trampling maintains control.
Matt Trampling has got the better of the ground game so far.

Trampling has hold of Arona's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Arona manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Matt Trampling showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Arona checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Arona crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Trampling - the referee stops the clock and Arona gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Trampling. Arona manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Arona uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Trampling.
Trampling throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sloppy strikes from Trampling. Those never looked like landing.

Arona fails to pull guard.
Trampling looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Trampling is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Trampling gets through Arona's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Trampling with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Arona tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trampling just stands there and leans against the cage.
Arona is working for takedown but Trampling is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Trampling takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Arona dodges an elbow strike from Trampling.
Arona has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Trampling avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Trampling creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Arona's defenses.

Trampling tries a knee to the head but Arona blocks it.
Arona tries to pull guard but Trampling forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Arona goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Trampling lands a shot to the body.
Trampling is pushing Arona up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Arona escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trampling takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Trampling ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Arona moves away.
Arona throws a lazy uppercut
and Trampling counters with a low kick, right behind Arona 's knee.
Trampling tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Trampling feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Arona's calf.
Arona blocks a leg kick.
Trampling goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Arona changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Trampling keeps the fight on the outside.

Trampling drives through with a takedown into guard.
Trampling pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Arona is keeping the position for now.

Trampling is trying to control the action in half guard but Arona is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Trampling is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Matt Trampling is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Arona is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well Trampling has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
