Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Kostytsin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liam Rood will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Thiago Kostytsin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam Rood!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kostytsin looks to land a combination but Rood avoids it well.

Kostytsin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rood to the mat! Rood manages to get full guard.
Rood trying to strike off his back.
Rood not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rood is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rood is trying to keep Kostytsin in close.
Kostytsin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rood swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rood avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rood looking for a sweep. Not yet Rood, not yet.
Rood working a defensive guard here.
Kostytsin working some strikes from top position.

Kostytsin trying to control but Rood is working from the bottom.
Rood looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kostytsin is one step ahead there.
Kostytsin is pushing down on Rood's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rood is fighting to maintain full guard but Kostytsin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Rood wants to control but Kostytsin is keeping busy.
Kostytsin is trying to control. Rood wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kostytsin gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Rood lands a two punch combo.

Kostytsin scores with a takedown into Rood's guard.
Rood looks gassed!
Kostytsin passes Rood's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kostytsin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rood!
Rood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kostytsin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kostytsin wants to control the pace but Rood is squirming around nicely.
Kostytsin looking to control and managing it successfully.

Kostytsin in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Kostytsin looking to control but Rood is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kostytsin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kostytsin has hold of Rood's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rood manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Kostytsin thowing shots but they're missing.
A nice elbow there by Kostytsin.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kostytsin wants to control the pace but Rood is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kostytsin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rood has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kostytsin raining down shots from the mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Kostytsin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rood lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rood stuffs the takedown attempt from Kostytsin. Kostytsin gets slowly back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Kostytsin.

Kostytsin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kostytsin advances position into side control!
Thiago Kostytsin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kostytsin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rood knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kostytsin has an Americana. Rood didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Kostytsin is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Kostytsin hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
