The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Russo darts in and clinches Nguyen up against the cage.
Nguyen landing knees to the head.
Nguyen tries to land knees in the clinch but Russo avoids the damage to the body.
Russo blocks the elbow strike.

Russo manages to pull guard.
Nguyen wants to stand but Russo is controlling his posture from full guard.

Russo wriggles free and stands up.
Nguyen is breathing heavily.

Russo moves into range and clinches up with Nguyen.

Russo breaks the clinch.

Russo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nguyen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Russo has him pressed against the cage.
Russo wants a takedown.

Russo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Russo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nguyen as he jumps to the side.

Russo moves into range and clinches up with Nguyen.

Nguyen tries to break the clinch but Russo is controlling the position.
Nguyen crunches a lovely knee into Russo's ribcage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Nguyen throws an elbow but misses.

Russo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nguyen moves in looking to clinch but Russo pushes him off.
Nice sprawl there from Nguyen as Russo shoots in.
Duy Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vedran Russo.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nguyen.
Russo shoots for a takedown but Nguyen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Russo avoids a kick to the body.
Russo fails to land the takedown.
Russo keeps the fight on the outside.
Nguyen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Russo dives in and grabs Nguyen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nguyen pushes down on Russo's head and hops out.

Russo clinches up with Nguyen and pushes him back against the cage.
Nguyen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Nguyen successfully pulls guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Russo throwing strikes from guard but Nguyen blocks nicely.
Russo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nguyen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Russo stops Nguyen from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Russo passes Nguyen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Well, if Russo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Russo moves nicely into side control.
Russo happy to just control the position for now.
Russo misses with the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Russo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Russo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nguyen wants to land a leg kick but Russo is out of range.
Nguyen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Russo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nguyen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Russo defends it nicely.

Russo closes the distance and pushes Nguyen back into the cage.
Nguyen is looking to control Russo's arms but Russo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Nguyen has his back to the cage.

Russo jumps into guard, dragging Nguyen to the mat.
Russo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Russo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nguyen defends it easily.

Russo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nguyen manages to get himself to full guard.

Russo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Russo stands and throws Nguyen's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Russo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Nguyen slaps away a takedown attempt from Russo, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Russo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nice elbow from Russo.

Russo gets control of Nguyen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Russo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Russo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nguyen manages to get himself to full guard.
Nguyen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Russo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Russo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Russo stands up from Nguyen's guard - Russo perhaps looking for a knockout.

Russo shoots in for a takedown but Nguyen shows good takedown defense.
Duy Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vedran Russo.
Russo dodges the punch combination from Nguyen.
Nguyen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Russo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A nice combination there by Russo.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nguyen is looking to clinch.

Vedran Russo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Russo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Nguyen has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Nguyen tries to clinch there but Russo circles away.
Duy Nguyen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nguyen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Russo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nguyen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Russo.

Russo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Russo.
Duy Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vedran Russo.
Nguyen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Russo tries to avoid it but Nguyen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Russo to the ground. Russo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Russo clinches up with Nguyen and pushes him back against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nguyen wants to break free but Russo has control.
Nguyen wants a takedown.

Russo is stalling here.
Russo cracks Nguyen with a nice body shot.

Let's hope that Russo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Nguyen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Russo pulls Nguyen in close to his closed guard and prevents Nguyen from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nguyen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Russo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Russo has escaped and now he's on top!

Russo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nguyen is trying to maintain the position but Russo is very close to passing his half guard.

Vedran Russo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Russo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
