PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King DingaLing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cairo Samel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King DingaLing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cairo Samel!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samel fails to land the takedown.
A bone on bone clash there as Samel blocks the leg kick.
Samel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Samel misses with a series of wild punches.
Samel stuffs the takedown attempt from DingaLing. DingaLing gets slowly back to his feet.
Samel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Samel gets in close and instigates a clinch.
DingaLing has a couple of punches blocked by Samel.

DingaLing breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
DingaLing tries a low kick but Samel avoids it.
Samel throws a head kick that DingaLing semi-blocks.
Samel blocks a head kick by DingaLing.
Samel swinging wilding here.
Samel lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Samel rushes DingaLing and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Samel pressing his opponent against the cage.

Samel breaks from the clinch.

DingaLing takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
DingaLing avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DingaLing tries to bum rush Samel with a series of wild strikes but Samel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cairo Samel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DingaLing misses with the combination.

DingaLing drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Samel is not content to let DingaLing control the position.
Samel is looking to work his way out of this bad position but DingaLing is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
DingaLing laying and praying for a moment but Samel takes advantage and regains half guard.
DingaLing stops Samel from getting back to his feet.
DingaLing tries to pass the half guard into mount. Samel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DingaLing is trying to work for a kimura but Samel is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DingaLing sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Samel defending well though.
DingaLing not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DingaLing tries to clinch but Samel moves out of range.
DingaLing keeps the fight on the outside.
A punch combination from DingaLing misses.

Samel gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Samel tries to pull guard but DingaLing holds him up against the cage and eventually Samel drops back down to his feet.
King DingaLing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cairo Samel.

Samel manages to break the clinch.
Samel clinches but DingaLing breaks the clinch
and DingaLing counters with an outside leg kick.
Samel tries to close the distance and clinch but DingaLing swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
DingaLing has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
DingaLing really is a fat lump.
Horrible takedown by Samel or perhaps it was just good defense by DingaLing which made him look bad.
DingaLing moves in looking to clinch but Samel pushes him off.

Samel has managed to clinch.
DingaLing swings wildly with an uppercut but Samel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Samel wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Samel.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cairo Samel dominated that round.
That's time! DingaLing's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Samel shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
DingaLing tries to get to full guard but Samel has control of the leg.

DingaLing looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Samel decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Samel rushes DingaLing and presses him up against the cage.

Samel breaks from the clinch.

Samel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. DingaLing looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Samel stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Samel is breathing heavily.
DingaLing tries to clinch there but Samel circles away.

Samel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Samel can't break the clinch.
DingaLing takes an elbow to the forehead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Samel breaks the clinch.
DingaLing tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Samel paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Samel has closed the distance and engaged DingaLing in a clinch.
DingaLing is trying to break the clinch but Samel has him pressed against the cage.
Samel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. DingaLing smiles and moves away.
DingaLing tries to clinch there but Samel circles away.
King DingaLing is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Samel circles away from the clinch attempt.

DingaLing has closed the distance and engaged Samel in a clinch.
Samel wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Samel with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
DingaLing drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Samel breaks from the clinch.

Samel feints and as DingaLing raises his hands in defense, Samel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

DingaLing looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Samel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
DingaLing looking to control but Samel passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Samel seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
DingaLing trying to hold on to Samel's head to control him but Samel postures up.
It looks like Samel is going to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cairo Samel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Samel tries to clinch

and DingaLing counters with a nice double leg into side control. Samel won't be happy with that.
DingaLing throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Samel on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Samel is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

DingaLing stands up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
DingaLing is looking to clinch but Samel is avoiding it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samel swats away the attempt to clinch by DingaLing.
Samel keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Samel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
DingaLing throws a sloppy head kick and Samel moves out of range easily.

Samel moves into the clinch successfully.

Samel breaks the clinch.

Samel closes the distance and clinches.
DingaLing trying to stall but Samel improves his position.

Samel breaks from the clinch.
Samel wants to clinch but DingaLing slips to the side
and DingaLing makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
DingaLing tries to clinch up.
DingaLing with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

DingaLing closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - DingaLing lands in his opponent's guard.
Samel keeping moving, preventing DingaLing from controlling successfully.
DingaLing might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
DingaLing throws and elbow that misses. Samel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in DingaLing's guard. Nice move by Samel!
DingaLing wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DingaLing working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Samel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Samel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
DingaLing looking to hit a scissor sweep but Samel is one step ahead there.
DingaLing manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

DingaLing stands up from mount. Strange move.
King DingaLing has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
DingaLing is looking to clinch but Samel is avoiding it.
Samel moves in looking to clinch but DingaLing pushes him off.
Samel wants to clinch up but DingaLing keeps it at a distance.
DingaLing is looking to chop away at Samel's legs.
DingaLing connects with a solid leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
King DingaLing showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Samel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
