Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saul Laski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmilson Murutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murutu has chosen Flor do Campo as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Saul Laski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edmilson Murutu!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laski wants to clinch up but Murutu keeps it at a distance.
Laski avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Laski drops his hands momentarily and Murutu takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


It looks like Saul Laski has been cut.

Murutu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Laski wants to control from the top but Murutu keeps moving.
Murutu wants to get back to his feet but Laski is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Laski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Laski postures up in Murutu's guard and throws a big left but Murutu blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Laski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Laski gets to his feet. Murutu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Laski closes the distance and clinches up with Murutu, looking for a takedown. Laski pushes Murutu against the cage but Murutu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Saul Laski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laski misses with a takedown attempt - Murutu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Laski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Murutu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Murutu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Murutu avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Laski.
Murutu is trying to escape the position but Laski is controlling the position.
Laski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

An elbow from Laski crashes against the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Murutu wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laski scores with a couple of short elbows.

Laski fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Laski lands a nice forearm strike.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Laski connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Murutu some visible discomfort.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sloppy strikes there by Laski.
Laski is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Murutu will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Laski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Laski tries to free his leg and advance position but Murutu is retaining full guard.
Laski slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Laski gets to his feet. Murutu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Laski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Laski drops down looking for an ankle pick but Murutu pulls his leg out and moves away.
Laski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Laski misses with a straight left.
Laski shoots in looking for a takedown. Murutu tries to sprawl out of it but Laski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murutu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Saul Laski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Murutu tries to avoid it but Laski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Murutu to the ground. Murutu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A left lands for Murutu.
Murutu keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Murutu connects with a jab.

Laski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Laski lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Laski won't allow Murutu to get back to his feet.
Laski throwing strikes but missing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Laski's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Laski thows a big elbow that misses.
Laski pushes down on Murutu's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Laski keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Murutu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Laski scores with a couple of nice shots.
Laski takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Laski moves into full mount! Murutu won't be happy about that!
Laski throwing strikes here but Murutu is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

A big strike lands for Laski! That's really hurt Murutu and he's turned his back - Laski keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Laski jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
