The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Materla tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackhammer swivels and escapes.

Materla shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Materla stops Jackhammer from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Materla wants to get up but he can't break Jackhammer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michal Materla wasn't active enough on the ground.

It looks like Michal Materla has been cut.

Jackhammer ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jackhammer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Materla napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jackhammer scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Materla to see if he's OK.

Materla is rocked!

Jackhammer stands up and beckons Materla to his feet.

The referee is keeping an eye on Jackhammer - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Jackhammer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Materla uses from the top position.

Jackhammer feints and then cracks Materla's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Materla down.

Materla drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackhammer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackhammer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackhammer!

Materla gets caught napping as Jackhammer dives in and scores a takedown. Materla manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tim Jackhammer.
Materla misses with a takedown attempt
and Jackhammer makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Tim Jackhammer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Materla.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Materla fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Jackhammer rattles Materla with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Materla tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Jackhammer dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Materla stiff and motionless on the mat!
