Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jefferson Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Felipe Castro has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Felipe Castro seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jefferson Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Castro takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
It looks like Felipe Castro has been cut.
Mendes clinches up against the cage.
Mendes wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mendes gets a trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mendes thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Castro to regain full guard.
Mendes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Castro is pulling down on Mendes's head. It's preventing any offense from Mendes, at least for the moment.
Mendes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Castro's head.
Mendes is in close to Castro's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mendes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Castro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendes scoring with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendes wants to stand but Castro is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mendes trying to control the position from guard on top but Castro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Castro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mendes scoring with punches to the head and body.
Mendes wanted to stand there but Castro had control of the position.
Mendes postures up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Castro's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mendes connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Castro scrambles back to his feet.
Castro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mendes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Castro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mendes counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mendes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Castro throws a sloppy head kick and Mendes moves out of range easily.
Castro tries to clinch up
and Mendes counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Castro off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Mendes follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Castro was out before he hit the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jefferson Mendes!
