Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renan Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Page Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruas comes to the cage accompanied by ATB- Could you believe. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ruas takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ruas checks the leg kick.

Ruas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ruas wants to pass the guard but Black is keeping the position.

Ruas is pushing down on Black's leg trying to pass to half guard. Black is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruas has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ruas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Black is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ruas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Black sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Ruas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ruas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ruas wants to control the pace but Black is squirming around nicely.
Ruas working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Black slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.

Ruas is looking to take a break and control but Black is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Ruas seems to be looking for submissions.
Ruas wants to free his trapped foot but Black is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ruas misses with a head shot. Black uses the momentum to regain guard.
Black is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ruas has gone for a leg lock! Black slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ruas's guard.

Ruas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Black defends well.

Ruas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ruas wants to take a breather but Black is having none of it.

Black avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ruas.
Ruas wants to control but Black is keeping him busy.
Black has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruas is working away from the top position though.

Renan Ruas has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Ruas is looking to clinch.
Black throws a big shot that misses.
Black fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ruas on the side of the head.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruas.

Horrible takedown by Ruas or perhaps it was just good defense by Black which made him look bad.
Ruas takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Some wild striking there from Black.
Black missing with a left hand there. Ruas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ruas cracks Black with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Page Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ruas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Black as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renan Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Black swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Black is trying to escape the position but Ruas is controlling the position.

Renan Ruas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ruas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
